One Mega Millions ticket sold in Missouri matched all six numbers drawn July 31 to win the $25 million jackpot and making it the first Mega Millions jackpot ticket sold in Missouri. The winning numbers were: 28, 32, 33, 40, 46, and the Mega Ball number was 10.
“If you have this ticket, be sure to sign the back and put it in a safe place until you can take it to Missouri Lottery Headquarters in Jefferson City to claim it,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “Winners can also call Lottery headquarters to make arrangements to claim the prize.
“It’s also a good idea for the winner to seek proper legal and financial advice before they come to our Jefferson City office,” Reardon added.
One other ticket sold in Missouri for last Friday night’s drawing matched four white-ball numbers and the Mega Ball to win the $5,000 third-level prize; however, since the player used the Megaplier, he or she will have the prize multiplied four times to receive a $20,000 prize.
Missouri Mega Millions winners have 180 days to claim prizes; this would give the winners from Friday night until Jan. 27, 2016, to claim. The jackpot winner can get the jackpot prize in 30 annuity payments over 29 years or in one lump-sum payment. If no choice is made in 60 days, the jackpot is automatically paid in through an annuity.
Since the game went on sale in Missouri in January 2010, 31 Missouri players have won prizes worth $250,000 playing Mega Millions, and another six players have won $1 million second-level prizes.
