A lucky ticket-holder in Colorado is the happy winner of $4 million after Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing, matching the five white balls drawn February 9 – 3, 42, 46, 56 and 71. Because the winning ticket included the optional Megaplier (an additional $1 purchase), the normally $1 million ticket is worth $4 million after the 4x Megaplier was drawn.
Another Match 5 winning ticket was sold in California, and under the pari-mutuel rules of California prize payouts, that ticket is also a big winner, worth $2.2 million. Both Match 5 tickets just missed winning the estimated $80 million jackpot after the gold Mega Ball of 13 was drawn.
The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won at $169 million in New York on January 8. The estimated jackpot for Friday’s drawing is $87 million ($57 million cash).
