The largest Mega Millions jackpot in almost a year will be up for grabs next Tuesday, May 31, after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – 18, 41, 50, 68 and 70, plus the Mega Ball 9. The estimated jackpot will be $235 million ($153 million cash) – its highest level since June 2, 2015!
Although the jackpot was not won May 27, more than two million winning tickets were sold for the drawing at all prize levels, including two that matched the five white balls to win $1 million. Those tickets were sold in Michigan and Ohio.
Two Mega Millions jackpots have been won this year – $169 million in New York on January 8 and $157 million in Washington on March 8. Since January 1, more than 57.7 million winning tickets have been sold at all prize levels. Of those, 47 were second-place Match 5 tickets worth at least $1 million; eight of which included the optional Megaplier purchase, multiplying that $1 million to as much as $5 million.
Match 5 winning tickets have been sold this year in 23 different jurisdictions: California (7), Colorado, Connecticut (2), Florida, Georgia, Illinois (2), Iowa, Kansas, Maryland (2), Massachusetts, Michigan (2), Nebraska, New Jersey (4), New York (6), North Dakota, Ohio (4), Oregon (2), Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas (3), Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.
