The fourth largest jackpot in the 16 year history of Mega Millions will be up for grabs on Tuesday, March 27! After 22 straight drawings without a jackpot winner, the prize continues to grow, and next Tuesday’s jackpot is estimated at a whopping $458 million ($274 million cash)!
The winning numbers for the March 23 drawing are the white balls 4, 8, 23, 53 and 59, plus the gold Mega Ball 17. Although no ticket matched all six numbers, two tickets matched the five white balls to win the game’s second prize Friday night, one each in California and Texas.
In total, Friday’s drawing produced a total of 1,139,824 winning tickets at all prize levels. Since the last jackpot was won on January 5, there have been more than 13.3 million winning tickets sold, including 33 worth $1 million or more.
Some of the game’s biggest jackpots have been won in March. Over the years, 17 have been won during the month; of those, three rank among the ten largest Mega Millions jackpots in history. They include the record Mega Millions prize of $656 million on March 30, 2012, and a $414 million jackpot on March 18, 2014.
The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won on January 5 at $451 million; a 20-year-old Florida man claimed that prize as the trustee of Secret 007, LLC.
