A single ticket sold in Texas matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night to win the estimated $49 million ($32 million cash) Mega Millions jackpot. The winning numbers were 36, 39, 42, 45 and 48, plus the Mega Ball 3. The last Texas jackpot winner was June 27, 2014.
Three tickets matched the first five numbers to win $1 million each; they were sold in Colorado, Virginia and Washington.
Since the jackpot was last won on September 16, there have been more than 6.5 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including eight worth $1 million or more.
It marks the seventh Mega Millions jackpot won this year, following earlier wins in New York (January 8), Washington (March 8), Indiana (July 8), Washington (July 19), Georgia and Virginia (July 22) and Illinois (September 16).
The jackpot resets to $15 million for the next drawing on Friday, October 14.
