Oceanside Man Claims Mega Millions® Ticket Worth a Cool $410,000

RELEASE DATE: 11/18/2013

SACRAMENTO - Calm, cool and collected - that pretty much sums up Edward Shaw - so it's no surprise he remained unshaken when he discovered he won $410,115 playing Mega Millions. The store clerks, however, were a different story.

You see, they already knew the 57-year-old was the big winner. Shaw regularly buys his Mega Millions, Powerball® and SuperLotto Plus® tickets at the Albertsons located at 3925 Mission Avenue in Oceanside (San Diego County). And when he walked through the doors to check his ticket, the clerks couldn't hold back their excitement. They started to congratulate him before he even made it to the counter.

Shaw then called his wife to tell her the good news and said, "She went into shock." The happy couple plan to use the money to pay off their house and to buy a new Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The winning ticket was a Quick Pick® and matched the numbers 74, 11, 2, 64 and 42, but missed the Mega number 2.

Mega Millions is played in California (and 42 other states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. PST. Tickets are $1 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers. Please visit the California Lottery's Mega Millions site for more information on how to play.
