Mega Millions jackpot tops $400 million!

For just the tenth time in the game’s history, the Mega Millions jackpot has surpassed the $400 million mark! After no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – the white balls 14, 41, 44, 56 and 62, plus the gold Mega Ball 10 – the jackpot rolls to an estimated $418 million ($263.3 million cash) for the next drawing on Tuesday, May 28. If won, it would be the ninth largest prize since the game began in 2002.

Although the jackpot remains elusive, there were still plenty of winners Friday night. One ticket, sold in New York, matched the five white balls to win the game’s second prize; because the ticket included the optional Megaplier, it is worth $2 million with the 2X Megaplier drawn. For matching four white balls plus the Mega Ball, 20 tickets won the game’s $10,000 third prize. Four of those are actually worth $20,000 each because they included the Megaplier.

In total, the May 24 drawing produced 994,085 winning tickets at all prize levels.

Since the last jackpot was won in Missouri on March 12, there have been almost 13.7 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including 24 worth $1 million or more.

In addition to the $50 million prize won on March 12, other Mega Millions jackpots awarded this year include $437 million in New York on January 1 (the eighth largest in the game’s history) and $273 million in New Jersey on March 1.
