A Quick Turnaround As Mega Millions Jackpot Is Won in New Jersey

RELEASE DATE: 12/3/2025
UPDATED

Just five drawings after a tremendous $983 million Mega Millions® jackpot was won in Georgia on November 14, the jackpot was hit again! A single ticket sold in New Jersey matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – the white balls 17, 25, 26, 53 and 60, plus the gold Mega Ball 16 – to take the $90 million prize ($42.0 million cash). It’s the sixth Mega Millions jackpot won so far in 2025. The ticket was purchased in Union City, N.J.

This was the shortest jackpot run since August 2023, when a Florida ticket won a $39 million prize just two drawings after another Florida ticket won a game record $1.602 billion. That $39 million prize went unclaimed.

In the five drawings in this jackpot run, there were a total of 1,016,550 winning tickets across all non-jackpot prize tiers. They include a $4 million second-tier prize won in Georgia, and 29 third-tier prizes of $20,000 to $100,000, won in 15 states across the country (California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia). In total, players won almost $25.8 million in prizes during this run, not including the jackpot.

Note: Prize amounts in California will vary, as they are calculated on a pari-mutuel basis.

In the December 2 drawing alone, there were a total of 184,219 winning tickets at all prize levels, plus the single jackpot-winning ticket. Two tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball to win the game’s third-tier prize. Both were sold in Florida, one at $20,000 and one at $40,000. Find complete drawing results here.

Five earlier jackpots were won this year. In addition to the big Georgia win on November 14, jackpots were awarded in Virginia ($348 million on June 27), Ohio ($112 million on April 18), Illinois ($349 million on March 25), and Arizona ($112 million on January 17).

The jackpot for the next drawing on Friday, December 5, resets to its new starting value of $50 million ($23.3 million cash). This starting jackpot level is one benefit of the game change last April, in addition to greatly-enhanced non-jackpot prizes.

About Mega Millions

Mega Millions is the only lottery game that has produced seven jackpot wins exceeding $1 billion each – all in different states. South Carolina was the first in 2018, followed by Michigan in 2021, Illinois in 2022, Maine and Florida in 2023, and New Jersey and California in 2024. The Florida prize on August 8, 2023, is the game’s current record jackpot at $1.602 billion.

Tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets are $5 each and include a randomly assigned multiplier, multiplying the base prize levels by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X. Half of the proceeds from the sale of each Mega Millions ticket remains in the state where the ticket was sold, where the money supports designated good causes and retailer commissions.

Drawings are conducted at 11 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesdays and Fridays in Atlanta, Georgia. The overall odds of winning any Mega Millions prize are 1 in 23; the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 290,472,336.
