The largest Mega Millions® jackpot since last November is up for grabs next Tuesday, July 28! The estimated prize swells to $800 million ($344.2 million cash) after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – the white balls 2, 5, 42, 44 and 60, plus the gold Mega Ball 1. The big prize is the tenth largest jackpot in the history of the game!
In the July 24 drawing, there were 500,257 winning tickets across all prize tiers, for total nationwide winnings of almost $10.1 million. Thirteen tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball to win the game’s third-tier prize: six at 2X (two in Florida and one each in California, Georgia, Ohio and South Carolina), 5 at 3X (two in California and one each in Idaho, Missouri and Ohio), and two at 4X (both in California).

Due to California’s pari-mutuel rules, all prizes in that state will vary from the standard values.
In the 37 drawings since the jackpot was last won in Ohio on March 17, there have been almost $252.4 million in prizes awarded, with more than 10.2 million winning tickets across all prize levels. They include 16 second-tier prizes of up to $4 million: Seven with the 2X multiplier (two each in California and Florida, and one each in Indiana, Iowa and New York), four at 3X (two in New Jersey and one each in Arizona and Pennsylvania), and five at 4X (two in New York and one each in Florida, Georgia and New Jersey).
There have also been 248 third-tier winning tickets so far in this run, ranging from $20,000 to $100,000. These third-tier prizes were won in 38 different jurisdictions across the country: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Only two jackpots have been won so far in 2026. Before the March 17 Ohio jackpot win at $60 million, a $536 million prize was won in Illinois. It’s only the second time since Mega Millions began in 2002 that there have been just two jackpots awarded through July 24 in a given year – the first was in 2024, a year that concluded with just four jackpots awarded, the fewest of any year in the game's history..

Tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets are $5 each and include a randomly assigned multiplier, multiplying the base prize levels by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X. Half of the proceeds from the sale of each Mega Millions ticket remains in the state where the ticket was sold, where the money supports designated good causes and retailer commissions.
Drawings are conducted at 11 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesdays and Fridays in Atlanta, Georgia. The overall odds of winning any Mega Millions prize are 1 in 23; the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 290,472,336.
