SACRAMENTO – After only a week and a half of waiting Los Angeles’ newest millionaire has finally come forward.
Leopoldo Choi verified his winning ticket at the California Lottery’s Van Nuys district office today after he matched all six numbers in the Mega Millions April 4th drawing. Choi takes home a cool $30 million! While Choi has decided to remain low key on what he plans to do with his winnings, we can tell you that the winning ticket was a Quick Pick® and Choi has decided to take the cash option of $16.6 million.
Choi isn’t the only winner. The Century City 76 station in Los Angeles that sold the ticket picks up a bonus of $150,000, or one half of one percent.
Mega Millions is played in California (and 42 other states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. PST. Tickets are $1 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers. Please visit the California Lottery’s Mega Millions site for more information on how to play.
