The fireworks continue for Mega Millions with the jackpot approaching $300 million this summer holiday week. After no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night, an estimated $283 million prize ($170.0 million cash) will be offered on Friday, July 6. If won, it would be the sixteenth largest jackpot in the history of Mega Millions!
The winning numbers for July 3 are the white balls 13, 35, 45, 49 and 68, plus the gold Mega Ball 23. While the jackpot continues to roll, fourteen tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball for the game’s $10,000 third prize, but two of those are actually worth $20,000 each because they included the optional Megaplier (available in most states for an extra $1 purchase).
Over the years, seven Mega Millions jackpots have been won in the early days of July, including a $536 million jackpot two years ago, on July 8, 2016. That prize, won in Indiana, remains the third largest in the game’s history and the largest ever awarded on a single ticket.
Tuesday’s drawing produced a total of 724,151 winning tickets at all prize levels. Since the last jackpot was won on May 4, there have been more than 8.4 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including 17 worth $1 million or more.
The jackpot was last won in Ohio on May 4, when the ABC XYZ Trust collected $142 million. Two other jackpots have been awarded this year – $451 million on January 5 (in Florida) and $533 million on March 30 (in New Jersey). The latter prize is the fourth largest in the history of Mega Millions.
